Substance Misuse

Substance misuse is the use of substances such as drugs and alcohol for non-medical purposes.

Using this type of substance inappropriately will have a negative impact on performance and wellbeing.  The term substance misuse is generally referred to as illegal drugs, however, legal substances can also be misused, such as alcohol and prescription medications.

This course is suitable for those working in the security industry, particularly door supervisors and security guards.  It will also benefit professionals working or studying in counselling, health, sport and recreation.

By completing this qualification, employees will have a deeper understanding of the reasons people misuse legal or illegal substances, the types of substances that are misused and the signs and symptoms of taking these drugs.  It will also highlight the overall impact on society.
